Social Code was honoured to be selected as a finalist in the Emerging Gold category of The Wellington Gold Awards for 2014, a celebration of inspiring Wellington businesses. Emerging Gold recognises smaller enterprises (fewer than 10 employees for the majority of the previous year) who are “shining beyond their size”. We were chosen in this category along with a diverse list of local businesses – Parrotdog, Ecopoint, GOFI8URE, STQRY, and Wishbone Design Studio.

Some of the team, dressed for the awards; Alex Li, Ruth Seatter, Sophie Gommans, Alice Jones and Will Smart. Five members of the Social Code team attended the awards night at the TSB Bank Arena on 19 June. The event was Melbourne-themed, with some of the around 850 attendees opting for fancy dress; an Australian Open tennis ball and a Formula 1 petrol pump deservingly recognised among the Best Dressed winners. We had a great night out, and enjoyed an entertaining awards ceremony. It was inspiring to hear about so many amazing things being done in this little capital city, and Ecopoint were named the winners of our category. The winner of the Supreme Gold Award was the Malaghan Institute, who also won the Cyber Gold category for research into cancer immunology. This is fantastic recognition for the incredible work they do to find treatment for diseases including cancer.
